Annual Family Update 2022

Annual Family Update 2022!

Happy New Year! As we come to the end of another year, I reflect on all that God has accomplished through this ministry and I am so thankful for our supporters who faithfully pray and contribute to our mission. This ministry continues to grow and expand to new places, and we are so excited to see what God is going to do in 2023.

This month, we have a personal family update, which is a bit longer because our family keeps on growing! The 17th member of Carns and Co. was born just a few weeks ago – Jessie Kate Lee! For this year’s annual family update, we asked everyone about their favorite memories of 2022. Enjoy!

Some highlights for me this year were:

  • Watching Wheels on the Bus videos over and over (and over) with Malachi and Ezekiel, then having them wake up the next day saying “watch bus with Papa?”

  • Seeing Silas get seven (yes 7) Yahtzees in one game

  • Holding my newest grandaughter, Jessie, for the first time

  • Tickling Thaddeus and Sevigne (over and over) - I love their laughs

  • Hearing Annecy say “I love you Poppy”

  • Olive running to give me a hug when I enter the room

  • Going on adventures with Tina like the Taj Mahal, or the Ark Encounter, or long walks on the Green Belt in Boise

  • Baptizing new believers in a well in the dark in a remote village in Pakistan

Tina

My highlights from this year were being involved in weekly discipleship with the women at my church, teaching my grandkids language arts/math during the week, and continuing to build our home garden with my daughter, Hannah! I also enjoyed learning some new skills, including making sourdough bread from starter and hand-painting cards of encouragement. In the summer, I loved traveling around Idaho and going to India with Tim. I hope to be able to travel with him more in 2023.

Daniel

This year, I had a big life shift as I left my job with the City of Burbank in February and moved to San Diego to begin work as a civil engineer consultant in June. In the interim, I got my professional engineer license. I’m back at Lighthouse Bible Church in San Diego, where I attended during college. One of my favorite memories this year was getting Korean food in LA.

For me, 2022 was my first full year in Idaho. What stands out is just the simple, quiet moments, full of joy in being with family, friends, and church family. Even when that includes being woken up by Cocomelon or Paw Patrol, I’m just thankful that I didn’t have to move all my stuff at any point this year. I hope you all have a wonderful upcoming year and that we all strive to excel still more.

Brie

2022 was a big year for me as I moved out (WOOT) and got a new truck. I’ve been loving serving at my church in the youth ministry and on the worship team. My favorite memories of the year were road tripping to Utah and Stanley, and going to concerts with friends (yes, Idaho does have concerts).

Lee Family

To close out 2022, we welcomed our 3rd little blessing, Jessie Kate Lee! She was born on December 13th and weighed almost 10lbs! I am thankful to be done with pregnancy and of course, enjoying the newborn snuggles. John is on the job hunt again and is excited to see what the Lord provides in 2023.

Thaddeus is 5 and enjoying kindergarten! He’s almost reading and still making friends with everyone around him. He has become a great older brother/helper and loves his new baby.

Olive just turned 4 and has blossomed in her speech and personality. She is loving preschool and learning LOTS, she is also enjoying being a big sister and her Jessie baby.

Mockary Family

Overall, we spent our year much like the last, doing our best to faithfully live out the gospel with the responsibilities and opportunities that God has given us. While there have been significant challenges this year, it cannot be overstated how thankful we are for this unique time in our lives with the wholehearted love of five little ones, a house full of laughter and silliness, and family who live near, far, and right next door. Enjoy a recap of our family’s favorite memories in their own words!

Silas (6yo)

My favorite season is summer because of swimming, and cold cocoa (aka chocolate milk). But my favorite year is every year because we get to see family and friends, even from faraway. And every week there are fun things to do like nature group and adventure club and school!

Annecy (4yo)

“My favorite memory was my birthday because I got to eat cake. I also liked the presents.”

Sevigne (4yo)

“My favorite memory is the pool because we got to go swimming.”

Ezekiel (2yo)

“Pumpkins! I want to go to the pumpkin patch. The horsie bit my finger.”

Malachi (2yo)

“My daddy bear! My little bear! My favorite color is black. Baby Jesus (Jessie) is sleeping.”

Congratulations if you made it this far! We look forward to another year of God’s goodness and faithfulness on display.

Love,

Carns and Co.
