2021 Annual Family Update and Special Annoucement
As the year comes to a close, we again wanted to give a short family update about the Carns clan. We have been living in Idaho for about a year and a half now (minus Daniel). The construction on Tim and Tina’s home is 95% completed and they are finally living in their own space! They praise the Lord that, after being displaced for over a year, they now have a home base from which to do ministry.
Tim and Tina
Tim has been pastor, grandpa, dad, and handyman extraordinaire this past year. In addition to teaching several classes throughout the week and preaching at supporting churches, he has also been overseeing (and fixing) our recently completed remodel, much to his joy (haha).
His special favorite was climbing around in the attic to complete the electrical work during the heat wave this summer. He was up there so long, we almost sent in a search party after him.
Meanwhile, Tina has been grandma extraordinaire this past year, regularly helping both the Mockary and Lee families who are still very much in little one land. She especially loves tutoring her school-aged grandchildren, always bringing her great ideas to make learning fun for them. Tina has also been a part of several bible studies this past year, enjoying greatly the time she can spend in the Word with other women.
Daniel
Daniel still lives in Burbank, California, and works for the City of Burbank as a Civil Engineering Assistant in the Public Works Department. He plans on completing his Civil Engineering license by mid-2022 and will develop his career in the structural engineering field afterwards. Daniel enjoys his fellowship with his church family at Lighthouse Bible Church Los Angeles.
Carissa
Carissa moved to Idaho this year, where she got a job with the Idaho State Bar and Law Foundation in the CLE Department. She is a beloved auntie by all the kids, who enjoy all the constant fun that Carissa creates. Recently, Carissa has begun attending Compass Bible Church TV and is still figuring out what to do in Idaho, besides drink coffee.
Brie
Brie is still gladly working at her job as a document scanner. She is busy most nights of the week with bible studies and student ministries, where she serves with the 8th grade girls and 3 year olds. She is still on the hunt for the best coffee and burrito in Boise.
Mockary Family
Michael and Hannah are very thankful that God saw them through the remodel chaos and the baby twin chaos of this past year. Life is settling into more regular daily rhythms – schooling at home in the morning, then trekking out to explore all the beauty of the Treasure Valley.
Silas (5) entered kindergarten and is very much mesmerized with math and science; he can be found building legos or doing math problems for much of the day.
Annecy (3 going on 13) is usually found with a dress up on for much of the day; she is enjoying learning how to cook, bake, and just generally trying to do anything her mom is doing.
Sevigne (16 minutes younger than Annecy) is usually found singing or in her imagination; she loves cleaning, helping out in the kitchen and taking care of her brothers, much to their chagrin.
Ezekiel (1.5) is a gregarious, energetic little guy who brings the party wherever he goes. He loves to laugh and make others laugh with him. Ezekiel and his brother, Malachi, share in their obsessions of Papa and tools.
Malachi (6 minutes younger than Ezekiel) is a meticulous, thoughtful little boy who is constantly trying to figure out exactly how things works. He is a tenacious, determined boy who keeps his parents on their toes.
Lee Family
John and Bethany are happily settled into their home and are enjoying a taste of farm life with their 12 chickens. They found a wonderful church, Ambassador Bible Fellowship, and enjoy hosting friends, family, and neighbors in their home.
Thaddeus (4) is a busy boy who loves to make friends and tell them about his construction vehicles! He is especially enjoying preschool with mama and can write his own name.
Olive (3) has gone through a huge year of growth with her speech. She is a happy girl who loves to sing and play with her brother.
Special Announcement!
Again, we are so incredibly thankful for your support and partnership throughout this last year. And with that, we have a special announcement.
After two years, I am finally able to travel overseas again!
My first trip in 2022 will be to … (drum roll please) … Pakistan.
This will be my first visit there and I am scheduled to leave on January 13th and return on the 31st.
Plans are still being finalized for what I will be doing but the current plans include a five-day training module where the pastors will preach their first sermon (from Colossians) and I will teach the first unit for the next module (Module 2 on studying and preaching narratives).
I will also be speaking at a few conferences on expository preaching and family life as well as preaching at various churches.
I would very much appreciate your prayers for the following:
Please pray I would be a help and encouragement to our brothers and sisters in Pakistan, especially the pastors who I will be with.
Pray for the safety and protection of myself and the Pakistani pastors attending the training and the conferences.
Pray for smooth travel – that I will make all the flight connections and follow the various Covid protocols.
Pray also for my preparation for the class as well as the many messages I will be preaching at the conferences and the churches.
Pray the saints would be encouraged to proclaim and live out the gospel in a difficult place.
