May '19 Update: A Filipino Pastor Thanks YOU
To start off this month’s update, we have a short video from one of our students, Pastor Jurem Ramos of Soli Deo Gloria Christian Church in Davao , talking about his experience with the preaching program in the Philippines and how it has impacted his ministry. Onward and Upward
God has been growing the modular expository preaching program tremendously since we began in the Philippines nearly four years ago. Just to give you some flyover stats:
20 men graduated and 20 more are expected to graduate in 2019.
There are 70 men in the program currently (almost triple what we’ve had in previous years).
50 men are involved in weekly programs taught by TEA ministries and more are expected to begin this next year.
But the most exciting thing to happen this year is the 5 graduates who are now LEADING preaching labs themselves! The whole goal of the ministry has been to train native pastors so that they in turn will be equipped train their own men in their heart language. This is a huge praise and we are excited to see the number of trained pastors multiply using this strategy.
Some Praises for the Carns Family
The first praise is that our youngest daughter Brie graduated from high school this month. Words cannot express our gratitude to the Lord for this milestone. For a baby who was not expected to even be here, she has become a beautiful young woman inside and out. Please be praying for provision (physically and financially) for her continuing journey in college. If you want to know her full story, you can read it here.
Another praise is that we have received several unexpected one-time donations the last few months. Please continue to pray for ongoing support – we are still in need of $600/month.
Prayer Requests
Pray for the upcoming graduation this August for the Baguio class and for the opportunity for a second class to begin next year.
Pray that the Lord would open doors in other parts of the Philippines for training, especially in the far West and East.
Please continue to pray for me as I grade the many assignments from our 70 students and as I prepare the curriculum for upcoming modules.
