May '18 Update: Graduation!
Earlier this month, after nearly three years, the Lord allowed me to officially graduate with the Doctor of Ministry degree. As I have reflected on the time and effort involved in this achievement, I am reminded that it could have never happened without you. This degree has come only because of your support and prayers and encouragements. So, know it comes straight from the heart when I say: Thank you! Thank you for all that you have done to make this happen. May the Lord bless you for your help and participation in this ministry. Also, know that the Lord has used the training I have received in the DMin program to enrich and improve the training that I give to the pastors overseas.
CAPA Update
Not only did I recently graduate but just a couple of weeks prior to that (on April 20th) the Central African Preaching Academy graduated its first Master of Divinity class.
I had the privilege of teaching several modules to these men over the last four years and have been so encouraged by their diligence, perseverance and faithfulness to know and preach God’s word accurately to God’s people. These men in particular hold a special place in my heart because it was while teaching them that I began to desire to pursue giving more of my time to train pastors overseas. And just as you played a part in my graduation, because of your support of the Pastors Training Ministry, you also played a part in theirs. Speaking of Malawi, my daughter, Carissa, is again traveling to Malawi this summer to serve the missionaries and students at CAPA. Here's a little more from her about her trip:
Carissa's Upcoming Trip to Malawi
Hello! Once again, I have the incredible opportunity to serve the missionaries and students at CAPA! This trip is not for my personal pleasure or for the praise of man, but to serve the global church and answer Christ’s commission. I pray that I will be an effective tool by which God can strengthen His church and that I will continue to cultivate a missions-minded perspective—especially as a student on UCLA’s campus. If you are able, please pray that my heart and conduct would please the Lord while serving in this unique capacity overseas. If you'd like to read more about Carissa's trip and get updates from their team, go here.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for these men who have graduated and for the men who are currently enrolled at CAPA. You can find more details about them at http://capa.prayformalawi.com/students.
Pray also for CAPA that the Lord would strengthen the TMAI missionaries there and would provide the resources they need to be effective in training the Malawian pastors.
Pray for my daughter, Carissa, who will be going on a Short Term Mission trip to Malawi this coming August.
My advisers have strongly encouraged me to get my dissertation published. Please pray for wisdom and direction in that process.
We would also appreciate prayers for our current vacation in Europe that the Lord would use it to refresh us and to strengthen our marriage. We return to the States on June 12th.
